Increase Cable Modem Speed With Tech Support

A number of factors determine the speed of the Internet connection. Connection problem, routers, computer network traffic, software and hardware issues, faulty modems all these are just a few to name among the indefinite number of factors responsible for slowing down the Internet speed. Detecting the root cause of a slow connection is difficult but tech support guys suggest that you can diagnose the real problem and can try to speed up your online connection.

First you need to determine the issue. If your computer is running at its normal speed and you want it to run faster then the case is totally different from the one where some artificial mechanism is slowing down your Internet connection from its normal speed.

To detect the speed you can run online speed test on your computer. Some online speed test sites are there and you can run a free speed test on your computer to determine the speed. If you see the download and upload speed of your computer is more or less the same as your Internet Service Provider promises to be, it is fine. But still if you want more speed to your online connection you can contact your service provider to upgrade your Internet connection.

But if you see your online connection is much lesser than the guaranteed speed by your Internet service provider you need to look for the reason that is causing the retard.

Check whether any network devices between the computer and the modem are causing the slowdown. These types of devices can slow down the online connection even if they are working properly. Any type of wired or wireless router, hub or any other network device should be removed to make sure that your computer is directly connected to the cable modem. After removing these if any, you need to run the speed test once again. If the speed improves, you can contact your service provider to troubleshoot the device. If you notice no changes in the connection there may be some other reasons causing the slowdown, suggest the tech support experts.

Tech support experts suggest you to reboot your computer. Booting your computer turns off the software for background application that can cause the slow down of the online connection. To run it in safe mode you will need to press F8 key repeatedly when rebooting the computer. Make sure that you have hold and released the key properly. This will bring the screen ‘Windows Advanced Boot Options’ from where you will need to choose ‘Safe Mode with Networking’ and need to hit the key ‘enter.’ This will bring your computer boot in safe mode. Now you can again run the speed test, suggest the computer support experts.

If you see your Internet connection is nearer to the speed you are paying for, you will know any of your software is conflicting with your system which is slowing down the Internet speed. In such case, you can contact your service provider’s online tech support team for a solution. If the speed is still low there can be some modem or cable signal issues. If this is the case you need to contact your ISP technical support team.
